Carebox is a cloud-based solution built on top of the Box platform that makes it easier for patients, family members, doctors, and all healthcare stakeholders to collect, store, organize and utilize electronic medical records.

In addition to running as a stand-alone web application, Carebox delivers a suite of "Carebox for Box" add-on web gallery applications for Box, so that Box users can conveniently access Carebox features directly from within the Box web interface, without needing to separately log in to Carebox or learn a new application environment.

This Carebox In Case of Emergency (ICE) application is one of these Carebox for Box applications. You can learn more about the full suite of Carebox for Box applications at http://careboxhealth.com/partners/box/apps.

Carebox In Case of Emergency display a printable card with an emergency code and QR-scan code that can be used for HIPAA-compliant instant access to the contents of your Carebox folder in Box, in an emergency. All emergency access is audited.

To use Carebox Carebox In Case of Emergency, just add it to your Box Apps by hitting the “Add” button on this page. Once installed, Carebox In Case of Emergency adds a menu item under the “More Items / More Actions” drop-down menu for any FOLDER within Box.

The "Carebox In Case of Emergency" menu selection opens a screen with the card with option to generate a new code (if your card was lost/stolen) and to print the card.

The first time you use any Carebox for Box application, you will be taken to a consent screen that includes links to the Carebox terms of service and licensing information. A Carebox folder will then be created and collaborated into your Box account - for use with all Carebox for Box applications.

Although Carebox is not a HIPAA covered entity, Carebox is designed consistently with HIPAA requirements - contact Carebox directly for information on Carebox HIPAA Business Associate Agreements if you want to use Carebox in a HIPAA compliant context. Carebox utilizes the Box APIs. If you are storing Protected Health Information (PHI) in Box and/or have executed a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Box, please be aware that your BAA does not extend to this or any other third party app. If you have questions around HIPAA requirements related to this app, please contact Carebox directly.
